A $5.5 million settlement has been reached for a client in a no-collision accident. The plaintiff was represented by Nicholas J. Leonardis of Stathis & Leonardis in Edison.
The plaintiff was driving in the left lane of eastbound Route 3 in Clifton when the defendant entered the roadway from an on-ramp. The driver in front of the defendant was slowing down, so the defendant swerved into the middle and then left lane to avoid rear-ending them. The plaintiff then swerved left to avoid a collision with the defendant and struck the center barrier.
The plaintiff later suffered a concussion, traumatic brain injury, facial lacerations that required surgical repair with scarring, and lumbar disc herniations with a recommendation for future surgery.
Nick Leonardis said he presented an 8-minute video that showed colorized CAT scans of the plaintiff’s brain, to demonstrate the true impact of her traumatic brain injury.
“You want to be able to show the jury, objectively, why she has the complaints, so they don’t think she’s a malingerer or she’s making more of it than it is,” Leonardis said.
