A $1.9 million settlement has been reached for a client who was injured when a Raritan County police officer rear-ended the back of his vehicle.
The plaintiff was driving in Flemington on Jan. 24, 2020, when they were stopped waiting to make a left turn. The police officer was in their police cruiser and traveling in the same direction. The officer was distracted and failed to see plaintiff’s stopped car ahead and collided into the rear of plaintiff’s car.
The plaintiff was represented by Nicholas J. Leonardis of Stathis & Leonardis in Edison.
Leonardis said that he presented video evidence from the plaintiff’s surgeon, which confirmed that the fusion surgery was necessary and not a preexisting condition as alleged by the defense.
“My client has suffered significant permanent loss from this crash,” Leonardis said. “While he will always suffer limitations, we are pleased we have been able to obtain for him such a strong recovery. This recovery provides him the financial security needed to move forward as best he can with his life and we wish him well.”
